Is Love Yourself Thin Worth Spending $2,000?
Переглядів 446 місяців тому
After you listen to this video I would love you to answer the question ‘what is the real cost of being overweight and continually losing and gaining the weight back on’? What is the emotional toll of tying your worth to your body size? What is the emotional toll of telling yourself to be ‘better’ or a ‘good’ girl which usually looks like punishing yourself with rice cakes and deprivation? What ...

Deb is such an inspiration. I love her.
No thank you
It’s amazing what you can find !
I buy fabric at thrift stores all the time.
I'm a longarmer and much prefer customers to not trim the minky till after they get it back from me. That way I have less fuzz and they only have fuzz once. I'll mount it so they get the biggest possible scrap back for another project. Also find a background in learning to sew back when double knits were popular really comes in handy.

When you say straight of grain I think you are saying the selvage?
I'm starting this today, I'm excited about the progress and results🏃♀️❤🤸♀️💯👟💙💪
I loved meeting you on your birthday and seeing you in that cute quilt outfit!
I would love to see the before or the original quilt. The finished garment it beautiful!
Beautiful ❤
I appreciate the attempt but no I can't see what your doing
Dara, I don't want the baby quilt to be heavy. Will it be ok to not use batting?
I haven't had success with skipping the batting.
I've quilted dozens of Minky backed baby quilts which were nice and light while being cudly. The secret is poly batting. Poly fil. And it machine dries faster.
You mentioned a tension chart but did not see the link for it?
Great info on using the towa !
Why wouldn't you just tape at the edges of the backing? I make sure they are lined up, that way my backs are usually straight .
I have never thought of doing that. If it works for you, that’s awesome. What type of tape do you use?
Blue tape
That surprises me that it would be strong enough. That’s awesome that works🎉
@@DaraTomasson it is just a guide
I have always quilted with Minky on my domestic and never had issues. I have most recently bought a long arm with pro stitcher. I keep having the issue of my thread breaking with Minky. I’ve changed my needle and using 90/14. I have checked the tension, slowed down the speed and use glide thread which is supposedly the best. I asked my local quilting store and their response was “oh we don’t use Minky and everyone in the quilting world hates it.” So I’m reaching out because that is not an answer that I will accept!
Minky is a little bit tricky but I love it and so do the receivers of the quilt. I struggled with Glide initially but as I gained a little more confidence with adjusting my tension I was found of it. How many quilts have you quoted so far? How confident do you feel generally with glide and your machine? Minky does add another element to your skill set. One of the reasons people struggle with Minky is that the ‘fluff’ sometimes comes up into the top of the quilt. That’s why I recommend a light weight backing if the top of the quilt is light weight. Step 1- get comfortable with your machine and glide Step 2 practice on. The side of the quilt with the Minky and adjust your tension as you go. Let me know how that goes.
@@DaraTomasson thank you so much I appreciate the help! Actually I just my quilting machine and tackled Minky first, probably not the smartest but I am comfortable with Minky from other quilts I’ve done on domestic machines. I plan on doing a non Minky quilt soon to practice more. I was just wondering if there was something else I was not doing right. Again thank you!
@@kaylapipkins4678 I quilted professionally on my domestic for about a year before I got a long arm. There are some differences and a learning curve. So excited for you to start this journey!!

Hi I've just found you. Actually I've been using Glide.well..so many people are saying it is good for longarming, but it gives me trouble. everytime I change bobbin it breaks so often by being caught in backlash spring. It is really annoying. I was wondering this was similar to yours..? If I try other kind thread, problem will be solved..?
Make feathers for what?
for quilting on quilts or other quilted projects
@@DaraTomasson oh okay
I do struggle with sleep. I am beginning treatment for sleep apnea and hope using a cpap will begin to restore my energy level.
Hormones affect your quality of sleep. If you struggle with falling asleep you may have high progesterone and if you walk up between 3-5 am you may be lacking estrogen. The way you think affects those hormone levels. I am curious what your pattern is.
Would have really liked to see some of those quilting designs much closer to camera. Maybe next time...
Stunning work.
Very inspiring story.

Omg!😱 I just stumbled on Dara when watching Lisa Bongean videos. After watching and hearing Lisa talk about having a baby at 17. I was in the same situation. My daughter was born in September after my junior year. I went on to get my diploma and a bachelors degree at age 33. During all my adult life I have struggled with my weight. More so from my mid 30’s until now. This traumatic event and subsequent disappointment I have been punishing myself since then. I have had successful careers, a beautiful family including my son born when I was 22. Married to the same man all these years. A son-in-law, daughter-in-law and 4 grands. We have built an envious life however it’s obvious how unkind I’ve been to myself and my husband. God brought me to y’all and this video. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t wait to talk to my therapist about this. God bless you both.
Hello! I hope you had an awesome day! I had a very busy but fun filled day in my sewing room ironing more fabrics and now I get to hand quilt. Thank you for posting your video.
Hello! I finally get to sit with my hand quilting today and watch your video. I hope you have a joyful week ahead! Thank you for posting this video and sharing your time.
Hi Dara, what model longarm are you quilting on?
gam mill statler stitcher. I have since sold it and have a hand guided 12 foot gammill. I never got the hang of the computer.
@@DaraTomasson Thanks for the reply! I have no desire to computerize the longarm...I spend quite enough time on the computer as it is!
Hello! I hope you had a peaceful day! I went plant shopping with my youngest daughter and we had fun, Now, I get to watch your video. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for this video and your talent.

What inspired you?
Me.
What would it mean to create this change for yourself?
What size needle would recommend when using a black monkey to avoid it pulling through to the front?
What machine do you have? I usually use a 5.5 (Gammill)
